Enhancing Efficiency and Collaboration

Developing new tools to enhance efficiency and collaboration.

Tool 1: Website Builder

Context

After the success of an internal landing page creator, our team aimed to develop a more robust website builder with front-end capabilities. I wanted to create a user-friendly interface that would cater to the needs of different teams.

Goals

My goals for the website builder were to create a platform that could be used by designers, developers, and editors, seamlessly integrate within our development ecosystem, and enable the addition of new features as needed. I also wanted to utilize the latest frameworks and support localization in seven languages.

Challenges

One of the main challenges we faced was gathering needs from over 10 different teams and aligning with diverse requirements. I also had to create a smooth workflow to achieve results, deliver features at a constant rate, gather feedback, and implement it into the product.

Features

The website builder includes a site structure with pages and modular components, ability to add states for components, symbols, and dialog, user management system for easy access control, version control for easy tracking and management of changes, and save and publish functionality for seamless deployment. Additionally, it offers custom CSS and code capabilities for flexible design and integration with existing APIs, such as Contentstack.

Impact

The website builder tool led to a significant increase in efficiency and collaboration within our organization. By providing a user-friendly interface, designers, developers, and editors could easily create and modify sites without extensive coding knowledge. The tool's ability to seamlessly integrate within our development ecosystem and support localization in seven languages also made it more accessible and efficient for our teams across different regions.

The version control feature allowed for easy tracking and management of changes, while the save and publish functionality ensured seamless deployment. Custom CSS and code capabilities further enabled flexible design and customization of the sites. The integration with existing APIs, such as Contentstack, also provided a more streamlined workflow for our teams.

Overall, the website builder tool had a significant impact on our organization's efficiency and collaboration, allowing us to develop and deploy sites more quickly and effectively. It also allowed for greater flexibility in design and customization, which helped us to better meet the needs of different teams and regions.

Tool 2: Email Builder

Context

Our team was responsible for developing a system to communicate with customers through eCRM, primarily to promote new content and important news. As part of this effort, we developed an email builder system with the help of our American teams.

Goals

My goals for the email builder were to create a tool that would allow for the creation of localized emails without prior knowledge of JADE or JSON, enable automatic creation of assets from KeyArt + localized text, and store common email templates. I also wanted to optimize the email to be as lightweight as possible, support multiple languages, ensure accessibility and usability of output files in case of failure, automate the upload and purge of images on the Akamai server, and offer customizable footers for each franchise.

Challenges

One of the main challenges I faced was designing emails that adhered to strict guidelines due to various restrictions imposed by email clients. I also had to ensure that the output files were accessible and usable in case of failure.

Features

The email builder offers the ability to create localized emails without prior knowledge of JADE or JSON, automatic creation of assets from KeyArt + localized text, storage of common email templates, optimization of emails to be as lightweight as possible, support for multiple languages, and customizable footers for each franchise. Additionally, it allows for the automation of the upload and purge of images on the Akamai server.

Process

To ensure the success of both tools, I provided regular updates and prioritized bug fixes during the development process. I also worked with different teams to improve the eCRM process, including discussing issues related to communication and procedures. I tested the tools in real-world scenarios and used Litmus to ensure emails displayed properly on all clients. I prepared a presentation for the director and conducted training sessions for the team, including hands-on experience with real emails.

Impact

The new website builder and email builder have had a remarkable impact on our team's efficiency and collaboration. The website builder has enabled teams to create websites quickly and efficiently, leading to an increase in productivity. The email builder has led to a 70% increase in email campaign effectiveness and an average 100% improvement in the design process, saving us over a month's worth of work.
